Hello, Sugarcomb! The wedding planning studio is open.
A dream that has been in the back of my mind for years now came to fruition this summer when I opened Sugarcomb’s headquarters in Magnolia village. Designing the space was such a fun experience. The studio was a well-loved blank canvas when I received the keys; plans began this spring and I opened the Dutch door for business this June.
The studio is very close to my heart for a couple of reasons. I grew up in the area and spent a few high school and college years working in the exact same location, back when it was owned by an interior designer. That first job of mine was so inspiring and it greatly steered me along my design path. Bringing my own business to the studio has truly been a heartwarming full-circle experience for me.
Sugarcomb had been home-based since its start in 2008 and it’s a pleasure to be able to invite couples in to work on their plans where I have everything I need at my fingertips. The talented Julie Harmsen came by recently to shoot the studio and I’m thrilled to share her images with you…

The studio is open by appointment only, please contact us to schedule your consultation or visit.

The new Summer/Fall issue of Seattle Met Bride & Groom came out in the beginning of July! We’re delighted to have done prop styling for their Private Party fashion shoot in the issue. Photographed by Alvin Nguyen, and edited/styled by Editor In-Chief Laura Cassidy, I had help from a talented group of vendors (Mum Floral Design, Ruth-Ann Ford Cakes & Confections, Capitello Wines) to set the scene…

I couldn’t be happier that it’s finally July! Wedding season, warm weather and the new issue of Seattle Met Bride & Groom. I had the pleasure of coordinating a tablescape design for the issue. It’s a wedding concept inspired by a Skagit Valley fruit stand, full of strawberries and a mix of rustic & refined elements. Pick up your copy soon! Here are a few shots:
A {Death Cab for Cutie} Sugarcomb Wedding | K & N
First off, I have to say that Kate and Nick are two of the sweetest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. Their love is magical and it instantly fills any room these two walk into. Nick Harmer is the bass player for a little band you may have heard of, called Death Cab for Cutie. Working on their wedding was a designers dream. Kate is an amazing graphic designer and she came to me with their gorgeous color palette, stunning iconic stationery that she had poured her soul into, a beautiful vision of succulents, white cakes and milk jugs with swirly straws. I worked with them in the months before the wedding to pull all of the details together and to help them incorporate and layout the many elements into their rustic Sodo Park venue. Sarah Rhoads did an exceptional job of capturing the beauty and whimsy of Kate & Nick, along with the ambiance at the wedding which was truly mesmerizing. Tiffany Lowry, who always blows me away with her talents, did a stunning job on hair and makeup.
Kate and Nick’s ceremony was a tear jerker. It included a candlelight vigil during their vows, a duet by Nick’s Death Cab for Cutie band mate, Ben Gibbard and his wife Zooey Deschanel of She & Him, as well as a moving performance by Chris Pierce. The ceremony was officiated by Kate & Nick’s good friend and fellow musician, John Roderick. Sodo Park was so full of love that I don’t doubt all of Seattle felt a little bit sweeter that night. The admiration of their family and friends was overflowing during the hilarious, moving, kind toasts that were given to the couple. Just one of many, many highlights of Kate & Nick’s wedding…
