Jennifer & Jerry’s Wedding | Design Details | Vintage Glam Ceremony Altar

Coordinating all of the elements that came together to create Jennifer & Jerry’s Ceremony was so much fun. We found a gorgeous and impressive vintage corner cupboard through Becky at Vintage Ambiance, who also sourced the beautiful sparkly chandelier that was hung overhead. Here was our initial sketch that we presented to Jennifer:

We ended up being able to center the alter between two of the large windows on a brick wall, rather than in the corner of the room, which is the most common placement at The Palace Ballroom. We chose a sheer fabric backdrop from Rented Elegance, so that the early evening light was able to filter in from Lenora Street. Glassybaby votives in an array of pink and gold shades lined the shelves along with floral arrangements by Finch and Thistle. We selected chiavari chairs from Pedersen’s with a dark walnut finish to compliment the deep tones of the venue and to ground our light and airy design. The design was dual purpose, after the the room was transformed for the Reception, the cake display was centered under the chandelier.

Jennifer & Jerry’s Wedding | Design Details | Newspaper Rehearsal Dinner Program by Hum Creative
How fun are these rehearsal dinner programs?! We worked with Kate at Hum Creative who designed these adorable newspaper Rehearsal Dinner programs for Jennifer & Jerry’s pre-wedding festivities. Their actual size is a managable 8.5″ x 11″ page folded in half, I know the photo makes them look like they could be the size of an actual newspaper. Jennifer is a reporter at The Seattle Times, which played a huge role in meeting her now-husband, Jerry, a police officer. The program showed a photo of their engagement (Jerry was waiting for Jennifer with a ring at the finish line of a marathon she ran in San Francisco), and also included a weather forecast, crossword puzzle and an adorable story about the couple.
Kate also created the wedding day menu’s, escort cards and favor tags that can be seen Jennifer & Jerry’s full wedding post from last week.

It’s getting chilly out! This Inspiration Board brings out the glamour of winter weather, recalling dripping icicles and morning dew on a field of sea grass. The 1920s twist on fashion and furniture give the look a vintage elegance, dazzling with subtle sheen and silver sparkles. The modern color palette and surprising mix of accessories update this look for an unforgettable party overlooking a frosty landscape, just in time for the New Year!

Sugarcomb Wedding | Jennifer & Jerry by Barbara Kinney Photography

Jennifer and Jerry were married in August at The Palace Ballroom in Downtown Seattle. The couple owns Guardian Cellars in Woodinville and they wanted to enjoy a fun evening with their friends and family, centered around delectable Tom Douglas cuisine and delicious wines. Jennifer asked Sugarcomb to design their “Vintage Glam” inspired celebration and we excitedly jumped on board. She had a gorgeous Luly Yang gown that we used as the guiding light for their design to follow. To set the scene for the ceremony I sourced a towering vintage corner cupboard from Vintage Ambiance, which was filled with lush colorful flowers and Glassybaby votives, framed by a sheer vanilla fabric backdrop. Overhead hung a dazzling vintage crystal chandelier. I created their escort card display by hand-painting Jennifer and Jerry’s J&J motif, created by Cheree Berry Paper, onto an oak wine barrel from their winery. It later doubled as a backdrop in their wine bottle favor display. The tables were topped with champagne pink linens, colorful votives, menu’s by Hum Creative and punch-bowl florals from Finch and Thistle. The evening was so full of love and cheerful guests who danced, laughed and posed the night away in their 321 Foto booth.
Aside from Jennifer’s work at the winery, she doubles as a reporter for The Seattle Times. That is where she first met their wedding photographer, Barbara Kinney, years ago. Barbara is a Seattle local; her beyond impressive career is most recognised in the wedding industry for photographing Chelsea Clinton’s wedding last year. Enjoy, I’ll follow up with future posts on design details!
